Obituary for Adeline M. Andrade

NEW BEDFORD-Adeline M. “Addy” “Lena” (Duarte) Andrade, 97, of New Bedford, died Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Sacred Heart Home following a sudden decline in health. She was the widow of James Andrade and daughter of the late Manuel F. and Maria J. (Pinto) Duarte.
Born in New Bedford, she resided in Dartmouth for several years and in New Bedford for most of her life.
Adeline was a parishioner of Our Lady Of The Assumption Church.
She was employed as a truck driver for the Standard Times until her retirement in 1980. Prior to that, she was employed as a stitcher, waitress, welder in the Hingham Shipyards and also at Goodyear Tire & Rubber during World War II.
Adeline was an avid walker, enjoyed cake decorating and sewing.
Her family includes her son, Robert Veiga of New Bedford; 3 brothers, John Duarte, Manuel F. Duarte, Jr. and Antone Duarte, all of New Bedford; 2 sisters, Rose Pinto of New Bedford and Louise DeBarros of Springfield; 1 grandson, Scott Robert Duarte Vieira; 3 great-grandchildren, Kayla, Germain and Jylil; 1 great-great-grandson, Liam and several nieces and nephews including the late Albert Cosme.
She was the sister of the late Benjamin, August, Louis, George and Frank Duarte, Julia and Joanna Cosme.
Visiting hours Friday, May 24, 2019 from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Her funeral will be Saturday, May 25, 2019, at 8:00 A.M. with a service to be conducted in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. Interment in St. John Cemetery.
