Obituary for Michael M. Costa

NEW BEDFORD-Michael M. Costa, 78, of New Bedford, died Monday, March 16, 2020 at home following a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was the loving husband of Audrey J. (Teixeira) Costa with whom he shared 28 years of marriage and a total of 36 years together.
Born in Acushnet, he was the son of the late Joseph M. and Rose (Gifford) Costa. Mr. Costa resided in New Bedford for most of his life. He was employed as a licensed pipefitter first at Dartmouth Finishing for 26 years and then at Brittany Dyeing & Printing for 17 years until his retirement in 2003.
In his leisure time he enjoyed shooting pool with family and many friends.
His family includes his wife; 1 step-daughter, Susan Smith and her partner, Stephen Duckworth of New Bedford; 2 step-sons, Mark Pavao of New Bedford and Kevin Pavao and his wife, Diane of Orlando, FL; 1 brother, Joseph Costa and his wife, Joanne of Dartmouth; 3 step-grandchildren, Jessica Correia, Barry Seguin and Nathan Pavao; 4 step-great-grandchildren, 1 step-great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Raymond Costa.
Visiting hours in the funeral home Thursday, March 19, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Please note that the maximum number of persons allowed in the funeral home cannot exceed a total of 10 at any given time. His service and interment on Friday, March 20, 2020 will be private due to restrictions mandated by Governor Baker regarding the current coronavirus pandemic.
