Obituary for Vitalia M. Correia

BOSTON-Vitalia M. (Martins) Correia, 74, of New Bedford, died suddenly Friday, May 17, 2019 at Massachusetts General Hospital surrounded by her loving family following a brief period of declining health.
She was the wife of Arnaldo F. Correia with whom she shared 52 years of marriage and daughter of the late Francisco and Maria (Carvelo) Martins.
Born in Sao Roque, St. Michael, Azores, she immigrated to New Bedford in 1967 and was a communicant of Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Church.
A devoted homemaker, Mrs. Correia was employed several years ago as a stitcher.
She enjoyed crocheting and sewing, especially doll clothes when her daughter was young.
Her family includes her husband, Arnaldo F. Correia of New Bedford; her daughter, Maria F. Branco of New Bedford; her 2 sons, Jose Correia and his wife, Dawn and Richard Correia and his wife, Tara, all of Dartmouth; 3 sisters, Maria L. Moniz and her husband, Duarte, Maria L. Macedo and Connie Tavares and her husband, Jose, all of New Bedford; 13 grandchildren, Julie, Justina, Amy, Angela, Brittany, Noah, Sophia, Owen, Jordan, Colton, Kayleigh, Tanner and Avery; 1 great-grandchild, Spencer and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Manuel M. Martins, Lilia Fonseca and her twin, Fatima Correia.
Visiting hours in the funeral home Wednesday, May 22, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Her funeral will be conducted Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 8:00 A.M. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated in Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Interment in Rural Cemetery.
