Obituary for Lucilia G. Neves

NEW BEDFORD-Lucilia (Gordinho) Neves, 80, of Dartmouth, died Saturday, June 22, 2019 at St. Luke's Hospital following a period of declining health. She was the daughter of the late Antonio and Judite (Costa) Gordinho 
Born in Pinhal do Douro, Portugal, she came to this country in 1974 and resided in New Bedford until 2013 when she moved to Dartmouth. She was a parishioner of Our Lady Of the Immaculate Conception Church. 
Ms. Neves enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was happiest when everyone was well fed. She was always willing to give whatever she had to someone in need. Sewing was her passion and she was employed as a seamstress in various area textile mills until her retirement.
Her family includes her 2 sons, Rui Neves of New Bedford and Joao Neves of Portugal; 4 daughters, Mary Jo Pine of Dartmouth who also was her mother's caregiver; Grace Leite and Maria Botelho and her husband Mario all of Florida and Ana Neves of New Bedford; 1 brother, Joao Gordinho of Portugal; 19 grandchildren, Steven Neves, Brandon Neves, Ashley Garnette, Jonathan Neves, Matthew Neves, Destiny Weeks, Erica Medeiros, Kayla Pine, Farah Neves, Jennifer Strawn, Tiffany Leite, Travis Leite, Sandra Greaux, Scott Botelho, Mario Botelho, Amanda Neves-Flor, Timothy Neves-Flor, Hailey Neves-Medeiros and Shane Neves-Medeiros; 17 great grandchildren; 1 niece and 1 late nephew. She was the former wife of the late Fernando Neves.
Visiting hours in the funeral home Wednesday 5:00-8:00 P.M.
Her funeral will be conducted Thursday 9:15 A.M. at the funeral home with a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated in Our Lady Of The Immaculate Conception Church at 10:30 A.M. Interment in South Dartmouth Cemetery. Funeral arrangements entrusted to AUBERTINE-LOPES FUNERAL HOME, 129 Allen Street. Expanded lighted parking area with handicap accessible entrance to rear of funeral home.
